Khem's Story

Nan Khin, or Khem as everyone calls her, is Urban Light’s longest standing employee. She started with UL in October of 2012. She is ethnically Tai Yai which gives her a unique ability to be able to speak with the ethnic Tai Yai beneficiaries who frequent the center in their native tongue. She is a very hard worker and unbelievably manages the large 4-story drop-in center taking care of cleaning and organization. She is also in charge of UL’s food program whipping up fantastic and delicious lunches everyday. Anyone who has been or is a part of UL will know her – she is very famous for what everyone simply calls “Khem’s Cooking!” She spends her weekends studying and will finish her high school diploma in 2017.
